Obituary

Windal E. Muse, 85, of McAlester, passed away Sunday, April 30, in McAlester. The family will welcome friends for viewing and visitation on Wednesday, May 3, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Brumley-Mills Funeral Home. Graveside funeral services will be Thursday, May 4, at 11:00 a.m. at the Red Oak Cemetery in Red Oak, Okla, Johnny Montgomery will officiate the services. Pallbearers are Kirk Muse, Derrick Ward, Devin Ward, Joey Barnhill, Christian Barnhill, and Mike Muse.

Windal E. Muse was born on March 2, 1938 in Red Oak, Okla. to James Albert Muse and Ella (Gray) Muse. He grew up in the Red Oak area and soon after high school he joined the U. S. Army, serving for 2 years and receiving his honorable discharge. He and Shirley (Mitchell-Spurlock) Muse were married on Sept. 12, 1975, and they made their home in McAlester. They enjoyed their family, taking vacations and always exploring fun things and activities with the four kids. Windal worked at the Army Ammunition Plant, as did Shirley, eventually retiring as a quality assurance inspector. After he and Shirley retired (on the same day) they enjoyed traveling and going to music concerts and bluegrass festivals. They also enjoyed camping, along with hunting, fishing.  He also liked all kinds of sports, and loved going to local high school basketball games and softball games.  He was also a fifty year member of the Red Oak Masonic Lodge.

Windal was also a man of faith and attended the Blanco Baptist Church until his health starting failing.

Windal is survived by his wife, Shirley Muse; children, Gena (Muse) Ward and David, Eddie Muse and Gwen, Janice Cornwell, and Lisa Johnston and Chris; grandchildren, Jennifer Hebert, Kirk Muse, Derrick Ward, Devin Ward, Amber Barnhill, Joey Barnhill, Christian Barnhill, and Rhyan Johnston; several great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; a great grandson, Braylon Goulette; brothers, Theodore Muse, James Junior Muse, and Jack Hardy; sisters, Hester Muse, Oleta Hiatt, Olean Evans, Beulah Kitchens, Oletha Knight, and Emma Faulk.
