Virginia Frances (Farris) Davis was born in western Oklahoma on June 8th, 1969 at Newman Memorial Hospital in Shattuck. She attended kindergarten through high school in Arnett and completed cosmetology school in Woodward. As a hair stylist for 25 years, she worked in several Oklahoma towns, ending her career in 2014 in McAlester. Soon she was raising chickens and goats along with several dogs and a house cat. She named most of her animals, loved them dearly, and was known as the Animal Whisperer.

At Lakewood Christian Church in McAlester, she met Marty Davis and the couple married in 2009. They were very active at Lakewood, known for their service and efforts to help anyone in need. That generosity of spirit, along with an outspoken kindness and consideration, defined the way Virginia lived her life. She will never be forgotten, leaving friends and family feeling forever blessed to have known her.

Virginia is preceded in death by her father Wayne Farris, stepfather Louis Crouch, and brother John Wayne Farris.

She is survived by her husband Marty Davis, Eufaula, Oklahoma; stepson Marshall Davis, Checotah, Oklahoma; mother Alma Crouch, McAlester, Oklahoma; sister Kathy Preston, Canadian, Oklahoma; sister and brother-in-law Delores and Michael Dauer, Lindale, Texas; nephew and wife Steven and Amber Dauer, Florence, Alabama; nephew and niece Michael Wayne Dauer and Elizabeth Dauer, both from Lindale, Texas; and a host of beloved in-laws.

A Celebration of Life to honor Virginia Davis will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, December 19th 2022 at Lakewood Christian Church, 840 South George Nigh Expressway, McAlester, Oklahoma.  Pastor Paul Vanderveer and Cliff House will officiate. Active pallbearers are Adam Rainwater, Rob Haile, Fred Cleveland, Philip Burris, Les Cashmere, Douglas Holub, John Patton and Steve Patterson.  Honorary pallbearer will be Paul Thomas.
