Vernon Dale Tannehill, 81, of McAlester, passed away Thursday, Feb. 24, at his home.  Graveside funeral services will be Friday, March 4, at 1:00 p.m. at the Blue Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Donny Ward, Clayton Ward, Tommy Fry, and Mark Tannehill.

Vernon Dale Tannehill was born on Sept. 6, 1940 in McAlester to Edgar and Gracie (Smith) Tannehill.  He has lived all his life in McAlester, and for a short time in Arpelar.  He graduated from McAlester High School.  Vernon was a carpenter working in construction, building houses in this area for many years.  He and his wife, Bernice, also owned and operated Tannehill Furniture in McAlester.  In his spare time, Vernon enjoyed going fishing.

Vernon is survived by 2 sons, Larry Tannehill and Cindy, and Terry Tannehill and Bobbi Wood; grandchildren, Trevor and Kylie; a great granddaughter, Havely; 2 brothers, Edwin Tannehill and Dean Tannehill and Joan; a sister, Vera Gayle Greer; and several cousins, nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Bernice; 3 brothers, Joe, Carl and Jim Tannehill; and 2 sisters, Hortense Roth and Norma Jean Sullivan.
