Valerie Dawn (Trueblood) Presley, 58, of Hartshorne, made her journey home on Tuesday, August 26, 2025 at OSU Medical Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Memorial services will be held at a later date.

Valerie was born on January 10, 1967 in McAlester to Perry and Janie (Leonard) Trueblood. Valerie loved to live and lived to love. She treasured her family and friends, always the first one cheering for them, and the first one to keep them in line. With a heart of gold and a fiery spirit, Valerie was known for her fierce love and compassion for anyone who crossed her path.

She found joy in helping others, often lending a hand to the elderly, whether it be mowing their yard, cleaning their house or just taking them a home cooked meal. Valerie's creativity showed through in her work as a talented florist, where she created stunning arrangements that reflected her natural artistic abilities. Making things beautiful was a gift she carried from early in life.

Valerie was part of the American Legion Post #180 in Hartshorne, Oklahoma, where she helped with their annual Halloween parties to raise money for the Girls State trip, always in costume of course. She helped with the monthly dances, veteran's dinners, and also repainted the outside fence and parking lot.  She would see a need and fill it, no questions asked. She held the chaplain position and was also the historian for the Auxiliary.

Survivors include her children, Jayme Gilley and Jessie of Sallisaw, OK, Shalen Waters and Preston of Santa Fe, NM, and Morgan Bassett and Vincent of the home; grandchildren, Lylian Ward and Alex of Edwardsville, KS, Rowdy Ward of Sallisaw, OK, and Dylan Ward of Bokoshe, OK; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Danny and Dana Trueblood, and Kevin and Jessica Trueblood; numerous nieces and nephews; numerous great-nieces and great-nephews; and her grand pups, Copper and Fancy.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Perry and Janie Trueblood; and a brother, Mark Trueblood.
