Tommy Sue Fugitt

Tommy Sue Fugitt, 85, of McAlester, passed away Thursday, Sept. 10, at home in McAlester. Final arrangements for cremation have been entrusted to Brumley-Mills Funeral Home. The family will host a memorial celebration for Tommy on Saturday, Oct. 10, at 12:00 p.m. at the First Free Will Baptist Church in McAlester.

Tommy Fugitt was born on Nov. 5, 1940 in Nashoba, Ok. To Murrell and Leota (Rodgers) McDaniel. She grew up in the Nashoba area and graduated from Nashoba High School.

She married Jerry Fugitt on July 26, 1978, and they made their home in McAlester for over 45 years. Tommy’s love of horses was equal to that of her husband, Jerry. Tommy and Jerry were both very involved with training and showing Missouri Foxtrotters. Together, they won many awards for their work at numerous horse shows. They were both long-time members of the Missouri Foxtrotters Horse Breed Association. Tommy also enjoyed reading, cooking, spending time with family and taking car rides with sister Sammy.

Tommy is survived by her grandchildren, Shannon McKaughan and wife Beth, and Holly Neill and husband Phillip; great grandchildren, Allison McKaughan, Maggi Neill, and Emalee Myers and husband Casey; a sister, Sammy Warren; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins whom she all loved and adored. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Jerry; 2 sons, Roy McKaughan and Jacky McKaughan; her parents, Murrell and Leota McDaniel; and brothers, Porter McDaniel and Roger “Buster” McDaniel.
