Obituary

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Thomas Elvin Thomason, who left us on July 10, 2025.  We take comfort knowing that he passed away at home, surrounded by family and is now resting with our heavenly Father, doing what he loved doing the most; fishing and hunting.

Thomas Elvin Thomason was born on June 22, 1938 in Higgins, Oklahoma To Opal (Ott) and Sam Thomason.  He was a devoted and loving husband, father, and grandfather.  He dedicated his life to his family, always providing love, support, and guidance.

Tom met the love of his life, Sharron Guevera Suter, in Hartshorne.  They shared a span of over 50 years together; they were soul mates.  He and Sharron went on many hunting trips for turkey and deer, camping trips to Sardis Lake, treks to Colorado, and crabbing with grandkids in Louisiana.

Embracing fatherhood, he took on the responsibilities wholeheartedly to his kids, Shelly, Keith, Mary and Tonia, forming an unbreakable bond.  Always there to offer his love, support and encouragement.  Instilling in them a strong sense of responsibility, respect, gratitude and self-reliance.  His love and guidance will forever be imprinted in our hearts.  He became more than Dad, he was Poppie, their hero.

Tom was a retired veteran from the military of 28 years in the Army, having served 2 tours in Vietnam.  Tom had a passion for gardening, hunting and fishing with friends and family, playing guitar, and sharing wonderful stories of his youth and life.  He was a man of kindness, strength, wisdom; touching the lives of everyone he met.  He loved going to the "old farts club" every morning for coffee and conversation with his friend Dennis and the other patrons.

Tom is survived by his loving wife, Sharron Raye Thomason of the home; his children, Shelly Cotner, Keith Sivil, Mary Brown, and Tonia and Patrick Bershinsky; grandchildren, Leah McNac, Lacey Lalman, Sarah Marino, Cole and Nicole Bershinsky, Katie and Brock Falk, Shayne and Seth Bayird, Torey Underwood, and Kyle Brown; great grandchildren, Kaeleb Moore and Amylia McNac, Brinley, Kaston, and Bridger Falk, Nicolae Underwood and Dominic Fry, Sylas Bayird, and Bailey Sivil; his siblings, Calvin Thomason, David Thomason, George Thomason, Richard and Paula Thomason, Jim and Rena Thomason, and Carol and Bailey Woods; 16 great grandchildren, 4 great-great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Sam and Opal Thomason, grandparents, Mitchell Ott and Molly Wilson, Noah Thomason and Josephine (Grauwels) Thomason; brothers, Niles, Robert, and Carl Thomason and a sister, Mary Clunn; and great grandchildren James McNac, III and Jacklynn Short.
