Thomas Gene Polansky, 72, of McAlester, passed away Friday, June 21, at his home. Visitation time is set for Tuesday 10:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. Funeral services are Wednesday, June 26, at 10:00 a.m. at Brumley-Mills Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery in Eufaula. Pallbearers are Brent Owens, Eric Owens, Ryan Owens, Larry Brent Owens, Zane Owens, and Aidan Owens. Honorary pallbearers are Kevin Parker, Sammy McElhaney, Donald Mathis, Clifford McElhaney, and Mike Leak. Military honors will be provided by the United States Army Honor Guard.
Thomas Polansky was born on Nov. 30, 1951 in Kiowa to Leon and Modean (Stites) Polansky. The family moved to Chicago when Tom was 7, then at the age of 13, Tom returned to Oklahoma and settled in Canadian until his graduation from Canadian High School. He lived in Missouri for a few years, where he honed his farrier skills, before returning to Oklahoma. Tom and Brenda Walters were married in 1993 and they made their home in McAlester. Tom worked at the Army Ammunition Base as a train conductor, until his retirement. Tom also had a hobby of making knives and liked riding his Harley-Davidson bike. But his favorite time now was spending time with his grandkids and great-grandkids. Tom was also very proud of the service he gave to his country by serving in the U. S. Army, where he was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, and commendations as a sharpshooter with the M-16 rifle and an expert with hand grenades.
Tom is survived by wife Brenda Polansky of the home, sons Brent Owens wife Tamara, Eric Owens wife Tracy, Ryan Owens wife Reina, Wade Haskins and daughter Allison Haskins. Grandchildren Larry Brent Owens, Tanna Parker, Alexandra Owens, Zane Owens, Aidan Owens, Cruz Owens and Ilissa Padgett. Great grandchildren Rylan Parker and Logan Parker. Brother Ed Polansky wife Kathy, Mike Polansky wife Brenda and sister Barbara Tripp and husband Larry.
Tom was preceded in death by parents Modean and Leon Polansky.
