Thomas Lloyd Flesher, 96, of McAlester, passed away peacefully Monday, June 23, at Belfair/Country-Side Assisted Living in McAlester where he has resided for the last year. He fought to stay alive long enough to out-live Elizabeth, his wife of 75 years, who passed away in January of this year. Heaven gained a warrior angel who was ready to go join his wife and go home to meet his maker. He will be terribly missed by his family and friends. He was a faithful, committed husband, a kind, generous and charitable soul. Always had a helping hand for anyone that needed it. Thomas Flesher was born on July 27, 1929 in McAlester to Thomas Richard Flesher and Bonnie Gertrude (Smith) Flesher. He grew up here and shortly after graduation, LLoyd met Elizabeth Bernasky on April 19, 1949 in Hartshorne Oklahoma. It was love at first sight. They were married on Sept. 17, 1950 in Hartshorne. A couple months after the wedding, Lloyd left his job at a local grocery store to become an electronics technician for 14 years. They built a home in McAlester on A Street and began to have and raise their family of three children. Later, he went to work for Rockwell

International in McAlester, worked up to Quality Control Supervisor. There, he became a Quality Engineer on Apollo-Saturn, Minuteman Missile, Peacekeeper Missile, and B1 Bomber projects. He eventually retired after a 25 year very successful career with what is now Boeing. After retiring in 1990, he took up a hobby of writing a collection of poetry called "Windows" of My Soul. It gave him an outlet for how he felt spiritually about God to portray "And See the "LOVE" Hidden Deep Within". Some of the titles were "Feel His Love", "My Soul Is His", "I Know Him Well" and "Just Who I Am". His other passion was working in the wooded lot their second home was built on in 1962, which was made into like a sanctuary. Placing many various statues up in "the rocks" near the tea house he built, and bridges across the little stream. With flowerbeds around the gazebo, his craftsmanship showed throughout. People often drive by and gaze at what Lloyd and Liz created together. They also had countless remodeling projects they did together over the years. Thomas enjoyed wood working, as well as landscape design. Thomas is survived by three children, Richard Lloyd Flesher and wife Karen, Gary Stephen Flesher, and Sharon Ann (Flesher) Traverse; 3 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandchild; and a sister-in-law, Mary Stizza. He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Richard Flesher and Bonnie Gertrude Flesher; his wife, Elizabeth Ann Flesher; and sisters, Bonnie Aileen (Flesher) Tipps, and Doris June (Flesher) Stems. Lloyd's life was full of love and gifts for his family and friends. He will be greatly missed.

Visitation will begin at 6:30 p.m. on Monday, June 29, at Brumley-Mills Funeral Home.  Rosary will begin at 7:00 p.m.  Mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday, June 30, at 1:00 p.m. at St. John's Catholic Church, with the Very Reverend Jovita Okonkwo officiating.  Burial will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery.  Pallbearers are David Stizza, David Clark, Frank Homer, Jr., Mark Homer, David Flesher, and Teddy Joe Sitter.
