Teddy Joe Bernasky, 80, of Hartshorne, passed away peacefully at home on his ranch on Friday, January 31, 2025.
Visitation will be Tuesday, February 4th at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Hartshorne at 6:00 p.m. with a Rosary immediately following at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, February 5th at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Hartshorne with Father Richard Bradley officiating. Burial will follow at Holy Rosary Cemetery in Hartshorne.
Teddy Joe was born on September 21, 1944 in Hartshorne, Oklahoma to Steve and Josephine "Josie" (Sitter) Bernasky. Teddy married Janet Kay (Shann) Bernasky on July 6th 1968, where they made their home in Hartshorne and raised their three daughters. He served in the Army National Guard and later the Reserves. He was a Railroad Engineer and Conductor, and worked on the railroad at McAlester Army Ammunition Plant (McAAP) for 44 years. He was active on softball teams and loved watching and supporting his girls in all of their activities, especially softball. He was a rancher and loved OU Sooner football, New York Yankees, playing moon, horseshoes, and dancing the jitterbug.
Survivors include his wife, Janet Bernasky; daughters, Melanie Friestad, Jackie Cooper, Courtney Bernasky and Stephanie Pixler; son-in-law, Mark Friestad; grandchildren, Kelsy and husband, Heath Brownell, Gunner Davenport, Sami Jo and husband, Austin, Zac Friestad, Toni Waldrup, and Ava Friestad; great-grandchildren; nephews, Tyler Shann and Chase Shann; sisters, Elizabeth Ann and husband, Lloyd Fletcher, Molly Homer, and Mary Stizza; brother-in-law, Bruce and wife, Charlotte Shann; and sister-in-law, Phyllis Hubbard.
Teddy Joe was preceded in death by his parents, Steve and Josephine Bernasky; brothers, Wallace Bernasky, Robert Bernasky, and Johnny Bernasky; sisters, Delores Klein and Kathleen Woosley; father-in-law, Monroe Shann; mother-in-law, Juanita Shann; and nephew, Mike Shann.
Active pallbearers will be Zac Friestad, Mark Friestad, Tyler Shann, Chase Shann, Don McCaslin, Richard Cooper, Billy Bob Hubbard and Danny Hubbard. Honorary pallbearers will be Benny Nick, Dr. Kenneth Miller, Buddy West, Eugene Norris, Bruce Shann, Les Burch, Richard Rice and Richard Semtner.
