Sylvia Leona Folsom, 96, of Krebs, passed away Thursday, Dec. 1, at her home in Krebs.  Viewing will be Monday until 8:00 p.m. at Brumley-Mills Funeral Home.  Funeral services are scheduled for Tuesday, Dec. 6, at 11:00 a.m. at the First Free Will Baptist church in McAlester with Pastor Steve Mayhew officiating.  Burial will follow at Brooken Cemetery.  Pallbearers will be her grandchildren, Don Tucker, Robert Tucker, Chris Tucker, Clint Marshall, Andrew Marshall, and Matt Vanlandingham, and Ashley Tracy.

Sylvia Folsom was born on Dec. 17, 1925 in Red Bird, Okla, near Canadian, to Festes and Gertrude (Haddox) Janway.  She grew up in the Canadian area, and married Earl Folsom on Nov. 13, 1942 on Brooken Mountain.  After living in several different places, because Mr. Folsom was in the Navy, they eventually settled in McAlester, where Sylvia has lived for the past 70 years.  Sylvia worked as a cook at the McAlester High School cafeteria for several years, then went to work at the Army Ammunition Plant as a production worker for about 10 years.  She was an accomplished seamstress and loved to sew and was a great cook.  She also loved watching the McAlester Buffaloes and was a big fan of the OU Sooners football and the OKC Thunder basketball.  She also spent time at the Krebs Senior Citizens playing cards.  Sylvia was a long-time, devoted member of the First Free Will Baptist Church of McAlester.

Sylvia is survived by her children, Sandra Brown and Leon, Deborah Vanlandingham and Michael, and Beverly Grubb; grandchildren are Don, Robert, and Chris Tucker, Clint Marshall, Matt Vanlandingham, and Ashley Tracy; great grandchildren include Rachel, Dallas, Alex, Zac, Nick, Rylee, Bobby, Jr., Kaylee, Krysta, Lily, and Andrew; great great grandchildren, Gwen, Duke, and Lucy; and numerous nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Earl; a brother, Marvin; a daughter, Linda Folsom Cropco; sons-in-law, Richard Cropco and Paul Grubb; and a grandson, Jeffrey Cropco.
