Suzann Ward Howe of Springfield, Virginia, entered her Savior's presence Monday, December 18 at the age of 83. Suzann was born on August 13, 1940, to Alfred & Katherine (Estes) Ward in McAlester, Oklahoma. She grew up in Oklahoma, graduating from Oklahoma Baptist University in Shawnee. After that, Suzann took jobs in Alabama, Georgia and Texas, serving in children's ministries, and also obtained a masters degree from Southwestern Seminary in Fort Worth.

While living in Dallas, she met Richard F. Howe and they married on June 23, 1973. The couple then moved to Northern Virginia after Richard took a government job and had two sons, Gary & Stephen. Suzann was a passionate Christian who enjoyed educating children through lessons and music. She served as a leader in the Children's Ministry at First Baptist Church of Alexandria (FBCA) for over 30 years. Her roles included teaching Vacation Bible School, Coordinator of Children's Choirs and Director of the church preschool. Suzann loved to read, attend Bible studies, sing in the FBCA Adult & Senior Adult "Jubilee Singers" Choirs, spend time with her many friends, play tennis and pickleball, and vacation at the beach. She was also an avid sports fan who loved the Washington Nationals and the Dallas Cowboys. Suzann always looked forward to visiting her siblings and extended family members in Oklahoma.

She is survived by her husband, Richard, of Springfield, son Gary (Molly) of Arlington, son Stephen (Elizabeth) of Silver Spring, MD, brother Randell (Ada Nel) of Edmond, OK and twin sister Linda Jo Hampton (David) of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma.

Relatives and friends will be accepted for visitation at Jefferson Funeral Chapel, 5755 Castlewellan Dr. Alexandria, VA 22315, on Friday, January 5, 2024, from 2-4 PM & 6-8PM. Funeral service will be held at First Baptist Church of Alexandria, 2932 King St. Alexandria, VA 22302 on Saturday, January 6, 2024, at 11AM. Interment will be held privately at Fairfax Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the First Baptist of Alexandria Foundation.
