Shirley Jean House, 86, of McAlester, passed away Friday, Oct. 21, 2022, in McAlester.  Viewing will be Thursday and Friday and funeral services will be Saturday, Oct. 29, at 10:00 a.m. at Brumley-Mills Funeral Home, with Pastor Carlis McKamie officiating, assisted by Randy Tidmore.  Burial will follow at Shady Grove Cemetery.

Shirley Jean House was born on Aug. 5, 1936 in McAlester.  She grew up here and graduated from McAlester High School.  She married Elmo House, Jr. on Nov. 23, 1955.  Shirley loved to sew and made most of her kid's clothes when they were growing up.  She was also a member of the North Town Home Extension group for 54 years.  She had been a member of the Alderson Church of Christ and the C & Tyler Church of Christ in McAlester.

Shirley is survived by her 2 daughters, Jennifer (House) Butler and husband Phillip, and Barbara House; her grandchildren, Angela Schirlls and Adam, Heather Parker and Raymond, Jason Walters and Myrtle, Julie Walters and Leslie, and Josh Walters and Katie; great grandchildren are Spencer and Hailey Braswell, Clay Schirlls, Gauge Parker, Garrett Parker, Hunter Walters, Jaxon Walters, and Quinn Walters; and her great-great grandchildren, Asher Gregory and Riley Braswell.  She was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Elmo House, Jr.; her parents, Lucian and Louise Wilson; her in-laws, Elmo, Sr. and Flora House; a son, Timothy Grant House; and a brother and sister-in-law, Marvin and Paula Brown.
