Shirley Ellen Fry, 89, of Scipio, passed away Thursday, April 6, at her home near Scipio.  She will be available for viewing all day Friday until 8:00 p.m. at Brumley-Mills Funeral Home.  Funeral services are set for Saturday, April 8, at 10:00 a.m. at Brumley-Mills Funeral Home, with Darren Schoggins officiating.  Burial will follow at Blue Cemetery.  Pallbearers are Billy Ford, Matthew Hardy, Caleb Fry, Joshua Fry, Brent Fry, Shelton Fry, Terry Ford, Newman Fry, Tommy Fry, and Kenny Fry.  Honorary pallbearers are Bucky Ward, Terry Tannehill, Donnie Ward, and Jim Fry.

Shirley Fry was born on Jan. 24, 1934 in McClain, Texas to Newman and Ella (Klippel) Ward.  She has lived in Pittsburg County all her adult life, first on Pyle Mountain, then in Scipio.  She married Charley Monroe Fry on Sept. 4, 1951, and he preceded her in death on Oct. 20, 2015.  Shirley and Charley owned and operated Fry's Garage and Bait Shop on North Main Street for a number of years.  When she wasn't working at the shop, she enjoyed quilting and fishing. And farming was always a part of her life; she loved to grow her vegetable garden and her flower gardens each year.  She was of the Pentecostal Holiness faith.

Shirley is survived by her children, Newman Fry and wife Chewelah, Tommy Fry and wife Lynette, Kenny Fry and wife Toni, and Mary Ford and husband Robert Scrivner; 11 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; 2 brothers, Bucky Ward and Donnie Ward; and 3 sisters, Laverne Faith, Elsie Schoggins, and Helen Eller.  She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; a grandson, Newman Fry; a sister, Bernice Tannehill; and a brother, Robert Ward.
