Sherry Lanell
Hassler
Jul 30, 1965 — Jun 6, 2021
Lindsay
Sherry Lanell Hassler was born on July 30, 1965, to Bob and Peggy Davidson in McAlester, Oklahoma. She entered her eternal rest after a hard-fought battle against cancer at OU Medical Center in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, on June 6, 2021, at the age of 55.
Sherry grew up in Haileyville, Oklahoma, and attended Haileyville Public Schools where she forged many childhood friendships that would last a lifetime.
Sherry was a resident of Lindsay, Oklahoma, for the past 12 years, after moving there in 2009 to be with the love of her life, Kurt Hassler. She and Kurt married January 23, 2009, in Dow, Oklahoma. They shared 10 wonderful years together, filled with love and adventure before Kurt passed away in 2019.
Sherry was a woman of great strength and kindness and an inspiration to us all. She was a loving wife to her beloved husband Kurt. She showed unbelievable strength and compassion while caring for him during his battle with cancer. After Kurt's death, she soon began a new battle of her own when she, herself, was stricken with cancer. However, she never showed weakness or despair. She bravely held her head high and fought hard. Knowing her time was short, she chose to spend it with those that mattered to her the most – her family. She began traveling frequently to visit friends and family, or just take the family to the beach in Galveston – her favorite place. Often referring to herself as a "gypsy," she was able to take numerous trips over the last two years and mark many great adventures off her bucket list. She was a caring and loving mother, who always put her family first. She will be deeply missed by all her family and friends, but her legacy will live on through her children and grandchildren. Her memory will remain forever in the hearts of those she loved.
Left to cherish her memory are: her son Trenton Zozula and his wife Chandra of Lindsay, Oklahoma; daughter Terissa Hassler and her boyfriend Britan Frankenberg of Lindsay, Oklahoma; stepsons Bryan Hassler and Cole Hassler of Lindsay, Oklahoma; her mother, Peggy Davidson of Dow, Oklahoma; her sister Deb Perot and husband Clifton of Olla, Louisiana; sister LeeAnn Hansen and her husband Tom of El Reno, Oklahoma; and sister Amy Cooper and her husband Marty of Dow, Oklahoma; her grandchildren David Zozula, Jimmy Zozula, and Bae-Leigh Crawley of Lindsay, Oklahoma, Haylee Hassler and Elizabeth Hassler of Amarillo, Texas; and Jami Dillavou of Kingston, Oklahoma; several nieces and nephews; and numerous others she loved and cared for like they were her very own.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Kurt Hassler; her father, Bob Davidson; her son, Tommy Zozula and his wife Emily; son, Timothy Zozula; and her grandparents, Roy and Elrie Davidson; and Jim and Dorothy Pingleton.
Her viewing will be held at Brumley-Mills Funeral home in Hartshorne, Oklahoma, on Thursday, June 10, 2021, from 6-7 P.M. A funeral service to honor the life of Sherry Hassler will be held Friday, June 11, 2021, at 10 A.M. at Brumley-Mills Funeral Home in Hartshorne, Oklahoma.
