Ruby Lee (Wilson) Howell, 97, of McAlester, passed away on Friday, January 16, 2026 at her home in McAlester surrounded by family and friends.

Ruby was born April 10,1928 to James and Mattie White Wilson at White Switch Train Stop. Ruby married Clyde Howell on June 16, 1945 in McAlester. She later married John Overton in McAlester. She was employed as a Matron at the Women's Ward at OSP, Old McAlester General West Hospital, McHoma Lodge and Hiway Lodge. She was the mother of 4 children, 8 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren.

Ruby is survived by sons, Clyde Lyndol Howell and wife, Mi Hyon, of Evans, Georgia, Lowell Howell and companion, Jane Moody, of McAlester, Craig Overton and wife, Lucretia, of Bugtussle, and daughter, Freda Howell Shipley, of the home. Numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.

She is preceded in death by husband, Clyde Howell; son, Larry Dale Howell; grandson, John Carlie Howell and granddaughter, Kimberley Ann Howell; husband John Overton; her parents, James and Mattie White Wilson; brothers, Oval, Raymond, Johnnie and Gene Wilson and sisters, Opal Watkins, Hazel Lee and Irene Alexander.

Arrangements for cremation have been completed, and a memorial service will be scheduled at a later date.
