Robert Mark "Bob" Turnbow, 65, of McAlester, passed away Monday, August 10, 2026 at McAlester Regional Health Center.

The family will welcome friends for visitation on Thursday, August 13, from 5-7 pm at Brumley-Mills Funeral Home. Funeral services are set for Friday, August 14, at 10 am at Brumley-Mills Funeral Home in McAlester, with Pastor Terren Anderson officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in McAlester.  Pallbearers are Roger Otis, Shawn Smith, Randy Saunier, Justin Rothenberg, Michael Hanson, and Matt Perry. Honorary pallbearers are Gary Manos, Jimmy Williams, Tom Forster, Jimmy G Ulibarri , and Jim Wingo.

Bob was born on April 2, 1961 in Columbus, Georgia to James Markley and Suzanne Helen (Gignac) Turnbow. He grew up in Houston, and graduated from the Columbia School of Broadcasting in December 1979.

Bob was an avid music lover, especially 'Rock & Roll' and on January 5, 1980, at just 18 years old, Bob's childhood dream became a reality when he went live on the air for the first time at KIOX in Bay City, Texas. That first broadcast marked the beginning of a 45-year career that would take him to all corners of Texas and eventually to McAlester, where radio was not only his profession, but a lifelong passion.

In 1986, Bob's journey brought him to KMCO in McAlester, where he met Sheila—the love of his life. What began by meeting at the radio station became a partnership that would last the rest of his life. They married on March 30, 1991, and were rarely far from one another, building a life, raising a family, and working together as Radio Station Owner/Operators. "Buffalo" Bob Turnbow was awarded the "Outstanding Achievement in Broadcasting for Station Event Promotion" by the Oklahoma Association of Broadcasters in 2008, and in 2024, after 45 years in the Radio Industry, retired.

Bob had a way of making life an adventure. Whether he was behind a microphone, traveling the world near and far, bird hunting on the family ranch in South Texas, or exuberantly cheering on the OKC Thunder, Bob embraced the things—and especially the people—he loved. Some of his favorite moments were the simple ones spent sitting out back with Sheila, enjoying the wildlife, watching the seasons change, and taking in the sights around them.

Bob is survived by his beloved wife, Sheila; devoted stepson; Michael Camp (& Jerri Bartheld); cherished granddaughter Madison Camp; and siblings; David Turnbow (Rachel), Lucy Williams, Steve Gruy (Heather)
He was preceded in death by his father; James Turnbow, mother; Suzanne Gignac Turnbow, bonus mom; Mary Jane Turnbow; and stepson, James Camp.
