Robert Bartheld, age 82, died Monday, June 15, 2015 at his home in McAlester.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 20, 2015 at 10:00 am at the First Presbyterian Church in McAlester. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Brumley-Mills Funeral Home of McAlester.

Dr. Robert Bartheld was born on January 4, 1933 in McAlester to Floyd Thomas and Nedra (Akers) Bartheld. He grew up here and graduated from McAlester High School. He then attended the New Mexico Military Institute Junior College and then went to the University of Oklahoma where he earned his bachelor's degreee. He then attended the University of Missouri at Kansas City Dental College. Bob served 2 years in the Army Dental Corps and was out for a year before being recalled for another year of service. He married Patricia McCann on June 10, 1956 in McAlester. Bob then began his private dental practice in McAlester, retiring after 45 years of practice. Bob was a very civic minded and professional minded man, getting involved in many different activities. He was a member and past president of the McAlester Lions Club; past president of the McAlester Chamber of Commerce; past president of the McAlester Navy League; member and past president of the Mid-South State Industrial Trust; past director of the Bank, NA for 30 years. He was a member of the South McAlester Masonic Lodge 96 and was a 33rd degree Mason with the McAlester Scottish Rite, a member of the York Rite-Red Cross of Constantine and was a Shriner, Jesters. He also served as president of the Scottish Rite Charitable and Educational Foundation for 28 years. He also served his profession as past president of the Oklahoma Eastern District Dental Association, served on the Oklahoma Dental Association House of Delegates; was president of ODA in 1979; served 24 years as an Oklahoma Delegate to the American Dental Association House of Delegates; was vice chairman of the ADA Federal Dental Services Council; Vice-president of ADA in 1996; served on the ADA Board of Trustees Liaison to the ADPAC Board in Washington; member of the Pierrie Fauchard Academy; member of the American College of Dentists; served on the board of regents and the foundation of the International College of Dentists for 8 years and was president in 2004-2005; and was president of Doss Royalty Co., serving as a board member for 28 years.

Survivors include 3 sons, Judge Thomas McCann Bartheld, COL. (Retired) William Edward Bartheld, USA, and wife Susan, Joseph Lyle Bartheld, 1 daughter, Elizabeth Lee Bartheld, 8 grandchildren, Mac Bartheld and wife Ashley, Jacqueline Reynolds and husband Levi, Benjamin Bartheld, Keaton Bartheld, Miranda Bartheld, Kooper Bartheld, Rachel Bartheld and Rebecca Bartheld, 5 great grandchildren, Camryn, Kaine, Bentley, Suttyn and Daxton, 1 sister, Barbara Bartheld Smith, 1 sister-in-law Virginia Fitter and husband Pat, numerous nieces and nephews, special friends, Karla Peppers and Les Williams, and Bob's devoted staff of over 35 years: Patty Turner, Sue Marchant and Donna Lewis and his (man's) best friend, Daisy.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Patricia, who died on August 23, 2012; his parents-in-law, L.V. and Virginia McCann; and 2 long time office staff, JoAnn Roberts and Lou Darden.
