Rick Allen Mask, died Sunday, October 9, 2022 in McAlester.

Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Brumley-Mills Funeral Home.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, October 13, 2022 at Brumley-Mills Funeral Home with Pastor Jody Domingue officiating.

Honorary pallbearers will be the Deacons and men of Victory Park Baptist Church; his reunion family; fellow McAlester Elks Lodge #533 members; Bobby Coggin, Josh Walters and the rest of the cooking crew; the various sausage making crews; Terry Kinyon and David Wright.

Rick was born to Eugene Glenn and Marie (Wisdom) Mask in Red Cloud, Nebraska on June 28, 1951.  When he was a year old, the family moved to St. Clair, Michigan where he graduated from St. Clair High School in 1969.

Rick spent more than 50 years in the revaluation of real property for taxation purposes for county governments beginning in 1968 working in the family business Gem Surveys for his father. They were partners from 1980 to 1986 when Rick took over the business. He later closed that business and in 1996 founded Visual Lease Services, Inc. to revalue oil and gas real properties for county governments. He worked in several states besides Oklahoma including Colorado, Kansas, Louisiana, and New Mexico. Based upon his on-site valuation of these properties these states collected millions of dollars in back taxes owed by the oil companies. The majority of the tax money going to public schools.

He initiated the development of pricing manuals for various properties based upon the on-site valuations and in-dept research of sales of these properties, defending these values and providing supporting data to County Boards of Equalization.  His company also developed several subsidiary businesses including OK Assessor and Property Records Preservation.

He was an active member of Victory Park Baptist Church greeting people at the door with his wonderful smile and laugh on Sunday mornings and the McAlester Elk's Lodge #533.  He enjoyed helping others in the community and making Italian sausage, barbecue sauce and rub.  Giving most of it away. He was known for his quick wit and telling everyone about the love of his life, his favorite redhead, his wife, of more than 23 years, Estella. Two of his favorite stories being how they dated for seven years before he told her that seven was the number of completion in the bible and if she didn't know by then she never would. And, how he loved harassing her until she told him to "kiss her grits."

He loved spending time with his family and friends.  He also loved being the dad to two beautiful daughters and spending time with them.

Rick was preceded in death by his parents: Glenn and Marie Mask; brother: Gary Mask; brothers-in-law Douglass Stovall and Bill Lincks; fathers-in-law: Clifford Stovall and Eugene (Cap) Grantham.

He is survived by his wife: Estella of the home; daughters: Mindie Mask and Miranda Mask Freeman of Holdenville; grandchildren: Bailey Hancock and husband, Jared and Tracer Fitchett all of Holdenville, great grandchildren: Camden and Renlee Hancock; mother-in-law: Martha Grantham; sisters-in law: Jo Ann Lincks, Melissa Hoover and husband Derek all of McAlester; and son by heart, John Bass, of Wetumka; numerous nieces, nephews, other family members, and friends.
