Obituary

Phyllis Marie Finamore was a lifelong resident of McAlester.  She married George Finamore on September 16th 1961. They began their life together and were married 63 years.  She worked at St. Mary's Hospital while starting a family and became a homemaker, afterwards, she began entrepreneurship in bridal and catering called Bridal Sweets in a building built next to her home, which she would often gain help from her children Katrina, Debra and Sunnie to make sure her clients felt special, pampered, and always entertained with drinks and pastries.

She was a perfectionist in every way, from baking wedding cakes, groom cakes, mints, punch or even hemming the dresses.  Phyllis later went on to work at OSP for many years before retiring in 2005.  She enjoyed quilting, embroidery, baking and for many years shopping networks.

She put everyone before herself and strived to show care by personalized clocks, towels and clothing.  If she knew of people close to her having a hard time, she would call and bake them a homemade loaf of bread, homemade caciocavallo, or desserts.  Later she began a hobby of lip balms and lotions.  She wasn't an outdoor person, but her husband was, so that gave him some reprieve from honey do's within the home.  She was a strong-willed woman who loved family and friends and made sure that everyone felt her sincerity and appreciation of friendship and kinship.  She also enjoyed meeting family and friends for social gatherings. She will be missed by all.

Survivors include her husband, George Finamore of the home; children, Sunnie Finamore-Landin and husband, Frank Landin of Ft. Worth, TX, Katrina Finamore Prichard and Charles Rosenbaum of McAlester, OK, and Debra Gardner of McAlester, OK; grandchildren, Anna Brown, Carmine Prichard, Blake Thompson, Breana Thompson, Nina Gardner, Gabriel Landin, Alyssa Landin and Adrian Landin; great-grandchildren are Paxtyn Austin, Scarlett Austin, Harper Thompson, Holden Thompson, Lane Brown and Langley Brown.

A visitation and Rosary will be recited on Saturday, May 25th at 5:00 p.m. at Brumley-Mills Funeral Home in McAlester with Stephen Dunbar officiating.  Mass will be recited at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, May 31st 2024 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Krebs with Father Kingsley George-Obilonu officiating.
