Obituary

Nan Mote, 82, of Crowder, passed away Saturday, Sept. 11, 2021 at her home in Crowder.  A graveside funeral service will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 14, at 10:30 a.m. at the Crowder Cemetery pavilion.  Pallbearers are Jeremiah Johnston, Richard Johnston, Darrell Elliott, Tyler Sangwin, Mark Robins, and Marcus Mote.  Honorary pallbearer is Benny Dassler.

Nan Mote was born on May 5, 1939 in Artsee, Ok. to Town Dabbs and Myrtle (Vogel) Dabbs.  She grew up just west of Eufaula and graduated from Eufaula High School.  She married Troy Mote on Oct. 9, 1962 in Stigler.  Shortly after, they made their home in Crowder.  Nan has lived in Crowder for over 50 years.  Nan worked as a Correctional Officer at the Oklahoma State Penitentiary and had earned the rank of Sergeant when she retired.  Nan liked to paint, mainly flowers and landscapes; she enjoyed sewing; and was especially fond of gardening, and the beautiful flowers around her house would attest to that.  She was of the Assembly of God faith.

Nan is survived by her children, Gina Elliot and her husband Darrell, Pamela Morgan and her husband Robert, and Teresa Mote; 6 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; a brother, Vernon Dabbs; and her twin sister, Annie Teague, and 1 other sister, Lola Bigham.  She was preceded in death by her parents, and siblings, Edna Dabbs, Willis Dabbs, Ruben Dabbs, Louie Dabbs, Clate Dabbs Des Charles (DC) Dabbs, and Thelma LeBlanc.
