Montie Lee Phillips, 70, of McAlester, passed away on Friday, July 22, 2022 at his home.

He was born on January 8, 1952 in Stigler, Oklahoma to Herbert Otho and Margarette Elizabeth (Zachary) Phillips.  He attended Quinton Public Schools and married Connie Janelle Zummer on October 10, 1975 in Scipio, Oklahoma until she passed away on January 27, 2007.  He was engaged to his fiancé Patricia Lynn Needham.  He loved to sing and play his guitar at family singings on Beaver Mountain and also loved to volunteer at The Music Store in McAlester for the past 5 years.  He was a retired security officer and enjoyed hunting and fishing.  He was a member of the Mekko Baptist Church and the Lake Eufaula Rod & Gun Club.

He is survived by his fiancé, Patricia Lynn Needham; son, Gregory James Zummer and wife, Kerry of Kentucky; grandchildren, Kandace Zummer and Katie Ledbetter of Kentucky; great-grandchildren, Everly Ledbetter, Kaiden Ledbetter and Hyde Simpson of Kentucky; brother and sister-in-law, Monty Leo and Melanie Phillips; sister and brother-in-law, Reaetta Maria and Steve Simpson.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Connie Janelle (Zummer) Phillips; parents, Herbert Otho Phillips and Margarette Elizabeth (Zachary) Phillips; brother, Shannon Phillips and sister-in-law, Katherine Ann (Harris) Phillips; nephew, Timmy Phillips and a niece, Tiffany Phillips.

Pallbearers will be Trevor Phillips, Dustin Phillips, Hayden Phillips and Dan Herron.  Honorary pallbearers will be Troy Zummer, Howard Zummer, Jim Zummer and Kenny Zummer.

Graveside memorial services will be 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 4, 2022 at Hugh Low Cemetery in Scipio, Oklahoma.
