Obituary

Mike J. Pulchny, 85, of Celina, TN, formerly of Krebs, passed away Jan. 29, 2023 in Cookeville, TN.  A Rosary will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 7, at 6:00 p.m. at Brumley-Mills Funeral Home.  Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 8, at 11:00 A.M. at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Krebs.  Burial will follow at St. Joseph's Cemetery.

Honorary pallbearers are James R. Anderson, Paul Kendall Pulchny, James Michael Fulton, James Zackary Fulton, Robert Dale Fulton, Arnold Abner, Terry Heskett, Joshua William Smith, John O. Collins, Captain Ret. C. W. Mickey Bradley, Chief Master Sgt. Ret. Joseph C. Tytanic, Chief Master Sgt. Ret. Larry A. Jobe, Senior Master Sgt. Ret. Alvin A. Plexico, Master Sgt. Ret. Jerry L. Burlile, Preston Pulchny, and Brian Pulchny.

Mike Pulchny was born on Jan. 12, 1938 in Krebs, to Mike Pulchny and Erma Agnes (Mattioda) Pulchny.  He grew up in the Krebs and McAlester area and was a life-time member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Krebs.  After high school, at the age of 18 years. Mike joined th U. S. Air Force, and served on active duty and reserve duty until 1962, retiring from the Reserves as a Chief Master Sergeant.  In addition to his military service, Mike worked at Lockheed Aircraft Corp., and then the Oklahoma Department of Mines.  Mike was a life member of the Air Force Sergeants Association; the Krebs Disabled American Veterans Chapter 20; the American Legion Post 79 of McAlester and served as Post Adjutant for over 5 years. He was also a search and rescue pilot for the Civil Air Patrol and was the Civil Air Patrol Maintenance Officer and Cadet Commander for the McAlester Composite Squadron.  In his spare time, Mike loved flying airplanes and skydiving and working on aircraft scale modeling.  Mike was also an accomplished guitar player and collected Gretsch guitars.

Mike is survived by 2 daughters, Deborah Kay Pulchny and Amy McKee; 5 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren; and a sister, Rose Marie Fulton.  He was preceded in death by his wife, Carolyn, his parents, and a brother, Don Jerry Pulchny.
