Obituary

Michael B. Carlton, 75, of McAlester, passed away Saturday, July 26, 2025 at McAlester Regional Health Center.  The family will welcome friends for visitation on Wednesday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Brumley-Mills Funeral Home.  Funeral services will be Thursday, July 31, at 10:00 a.m. at the Carlton Family Cemetery, located 1 mile past the Latimer County line east of Hartshorne, on the south side of Highway 1.  Pallbearers are Mark Glenn, Fred Workman, Britton Kelley, Dustin "Boogie" Sennett, John Walker, and Nick Carlton.

Michael Carlton was born on August 8, 1949 in Denton, Texas.  His family moved to the Hartshorne area when he was 6 years old and bought some land for the family farm.  Michael grew up there and graduated from Hartshorne High School.  He served in the U. S. Army, then attended Eastern State College in Wilburton.  Michael worked at Oklahoma Aerotronics for a while, then at Union Stockyards, then at large feed lots in western Oklahoma, on off-shore drilling, and finally at National Oilwell for 30 years until his retirement.  But Michael wasn't a 9 to 5 worker.  He was a true, die-hard cowboy.  His passion was for ranching, something he had done all his life.

Michael is survived by his wife, Debbie Carlton; 2 sons, Shawn Leigh and Dustin "Boogie" Sennett and Cindy Jackson; grandchildren, Kaytlen Chapman and Addison, and Tyler Sennett; great grandchildren, Irena Chapman and Axel Chapman; a sister-in-law, Vickie Carlton; a brother-in-law, Johnny Brewer and Sissy; and nieces and nephews, Nick Carlton, Carlton Peterson, Shala Peterson-Kuykendall and Cliff, Lacey Carlton, Mason Peterson, and Murphy Peterson.  He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, John Carlton.
