Michael Lee Beard

Michael Lee Beard, age 67, of McAlester, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 21, at his home in McAlester. Per Michael’s request, arrangements have been made for cremation, and no services are planned at this time.

Michael Lee Beard was born on March 17, 1959 in Amarillo, Texas to Carl Louis Beard and Imogene (Crandall) Beard-Hackler. His family moved to Scipio when Michael was 10 years old, where Michael attended Indianola school, until the family eventually moved to Savanna. Michael married Lisa Diane Smith on March 28, 1992 and they made their home in McAlester for the next 45 years. Michael worked as a groundskeeper at Oak Hill Cemetery for 30 years, until his eventual retirement. Michael liked to fish and hunt and was a big fan of watching football and basketball.

Michael is survived by his wife, Lisa Beard; his children, Megan Baumann and husband Jordan, and their daughter, Lyla Quinn Baumann; Caleb Beard and wife Miranda, and Shane Beard; a sister, Debbie Graham; a niece, Denise Morgan and her children, Gage and Ella; a brother-in-law, Eddy Smith; a sister-in-law, Amy Blevins; and 2 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Imogene; his step-father, Hubert Hackler; a brother, Danny Beard; and his in-laws, Mary and Jerry Smith.
