Max Phillip Warren, 81, of Tannehill, passed away Friday, March 25, at McAlester Regional Health Center. The family will welcome friends for visitation at Brumley-Mills Funeral Home on Thursday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be Friday, April 1, at 11:00 a.m. at Brumley-Mills Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Tannehill Cemetery.

Max Warren was born on January 6, 1941 in Tannehill to George Ray Warren and Minnie Gladys (Meadows) Warren. He grew up in that area and graduated from Indianola High School. Max worked as a correctional officer at Oklahoma State Penitentiary for a short time, then went to work for Braniff Airlines. After that, he worked for Fletcher Enterprises as a regional manager for cargo logistics. Over time, this work required him to live in several different parts of the country, and when he retired, he returned to Tannehill. Max was an animal lover and loved taking care of his cattle. He especially loved his dogs he had over the years, particularly his dog Stump. He was also a talented man who could fix anything and he loved tinkering around his place. Max enjoyed working in the hayfield, even after his health no longer let him do it as much, he enjoyed "supervising" aka bossing everyone around. Anyone who worked cattle or worked in the hayfield with him definitely knew he was the boss. Max had a beautiful voice and loved singing along to his favorite tunes, even making up his own words. He also had a great sense of humor and enjoyed a good laugh, at times... at the expense of others, but even so, he was very kind and had a giving heart. He was an avid college sports fan, especially OU football, basketball, and softball. On many mornings over the last several years, he could be found at What About Bob's for coffee, some breakfast, and maybe a little gossip with his buddies. In his later years, he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. He was so proud of their accomplishments.

Max is survived by his 2 daughters, Lori Weeks and Jennifer Lopez and her husband Mark; grandchildren, Montana Weeks, Max "Joe" Lopez, and Chloe Lopez; a brother and sister-in-law, David and Judy Warren; a sister, Dorothy Williams; brother-in-law, Gordon Rings; a special niece (and BFF) Sheree Rodgers and her husband Ronnie, and several other nieces and nephews and great nieces and great nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Nancy Rings; and a brother-in-law, Kenneth Williams.

Lori and Jennifer would like to thank their family for helping care for Dad. From cooking/bringing him food, helping him fix things when he couldn't do it anymore, taking him to appointments, etc... running to his rescue when he had fallen and just for checking in on him...and especially for being there in his final hours...we are eternally grateful and love you very much.
