Mary Esther Thompson, 74, of Tulsa, formerly of McAlester, passed away Monday, Feb. 19, in Tulsa.  The family will welcome friends for visitation on Thursday from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Brumley-Mills Funeral Home.  Funeral services will be Friday, Feb. 23, at 10:00 a.m. at Brumley-Mills Funeral Home Chapel.  Burial will follow at Fanshawe Cemetery.  Pallbearers are Justn Grogg, Mark Davis, Damian Wilson, Brad Wilson, Rient Arends, and Mike Coplen.

Mary Thompson was born on Aug. 18, 1949 in Poteau, Okla. to Floyd and Dortha (Cash) Wilemon.  Her family moved to McAlester when she was a child.  Mary attended McAlester schools and graduated from McAlester High School in 1967.  She eventually went to work at the Oklahoma State Penitentiary as a correctional officer, retiring after 20-plus years.  She then moved to Tulsa and went to work for Goodwill Industries, until her health required her to retire.  Mary loved being outdoors.  One of her favorite activities was to go camping and enjoy nature first hand.

Mary is survived by 2 daughters, Angelia Stell and fiancé Anthony Wesley, and Dortha Faye Stell; grandchildren, Damian Wilson and Shantel, Christa Arends, and MaryGrace Nichols; great grandchildren, Ashlin Wilson, Christopher Wilson, and Lakoda Wilson; 3 sisters, (and best friend) Kathy Battles, Loretta Brown, and Barbara Ann Davis and husband Ricky; and numerous nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents; her loving companion, Bob Wade; and a son, Christopher Underwood.
