Obituary

Mary Evelyn (Trimm) Reeder, 85, of Arpelar, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, passed away on Sunday, May 15, 2022. Viewing will be Wednesday, May 18, from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.  Funeral services will be Thursday, May 19, at 10:00 a.m. at Brumley-Mills Funeral Home Chapel in McAlester, with Pastor Eric West officiating.  Burial will follow at Arpelar Cemetery.  Pallbearers are Jeremy Luker, Jordan Luker, Sammy Luker, Zachary Luker, Jacob Ethridge and Kristian Ethridge.  The family suggests, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Arpelar Cemetery, in care of Mary Lee, 15205 W. Highway 270, McAlester, Ok. 74501.

Mary Reeder was born on May 13, 1937 in Phoenix, Arizona to Euel and Inez (Pinkerton) Trimm.  She graduated from Stuart High School in 1957.  She married Cecil B. Reeder on May 24, 1957 in McAlester.  Mary worked as a cashier at Sam's Grocery in Stuart while raising her 2 daughters.  Later, she became the manager for the jewelry department at Walmart.  She had also worked as the manager of the S & H Green Stamp Store in McAlester.  Later in life, she and Cecil worked as gate attendants for the Potato Hill Central campground at Sardis Lake.

Mary loved to sew and made most of her children's clothes when they were young.  She also loved to fish and just spend time sitting outside.  But most of all, she loved being a homemaker, and being around her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Mary is survived by her husband, Cecil Reeder of the home; daughters and sons-in-law, Donna and Jim Luker of Arpelar and Connie and David Clemons of McAlester; 4 grandchildren, Jeremy Luker and wife Courtney of Arpelar, Jordan Luker and wife Amanda of Arpelar, Krystle Holt and husband Shawn of McAlester, and Michelle Myers and husband Cody of McAlester; 14 great grandchildren, Sammy Luker, Paris Stanford, Louis Luker, Zackary Luker, Zayli Luker, Jacob Ethridge, Kristian Ethridge, Amery Perron, Addison Relayson, Olivia Perez, Zane Perron, Riggs Holt, Emma Myers, Lincoln Myers, and a brother Bob Trimm.  She was preceded in death by her parents; 4 brothers; 6 sisters; and a granddaughter, Elizabeth Sue Workman Lacy.
