Obituary

Mary Ellen (Parkison) Monroe, 74, lost her battle with ALS on Tuesday, September 12, 2023 at her home in Haileyville, Oklahoma.

Mary was born on August 25, 1949 in Haileyville, Oklahoma to Fred and Margaret (Stephenson) Parkinson.  She retired as Postmaster from the US Postal Service in 2012 with 30+ years of service.  She loved every minute she spent with her kids, grandkids, great-grandkids and all of her family and friends. She was a member of the Haileyville Alumni Association for over 50 years.  Mary loved God, her family, community and Haileyville School.  She loved to travel and recently became a member of the Hartshorne Catholic Church.  Mary loved life and had a Big giving heart and will be greatly missed by all that loved her.

Survivors include her sons, Billy and wife Stefanie Monroe of Wilburton, OK and Paul Monroe of Blanco, OK; sister, Elaine Fink of Haileyville, OK; 8 grandchildren, Megan Monroe, Kyle Monroe, Justin Monroe, Lydia Doby, Jordan Lowry, Jake Monroe, Abbi Monroe and Alex Monroe; 11 great-grandchildren, Scarlett Lowery, Maddox Monroe, Mason Monroe, Beckett Monroe, Cohen Monroe, Raniah Brown, Aaro Monroe, Jase Doby, Mia Doby, Grace Doby and Oaklan Doby.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Margaret; brother, Freddy and sister, Liz Nace.

Memorial services will be 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 16, 2023 at Brumley-Mills Funeral Home Chapel in Hartshorne with Pastor Michael Andrews officiating.
