Mary Kathlene Taylor, 74, of McAlester, passed away Monday, July 17, in Tulsa.  Arrangements for cremation have been completed and a memorial service will be held on Thursday, July 27, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. at Brumley-Mills Funeral Home Chapel in McAlester.

Mary (Kathy) Taylor was born on March 17, 1949 in Oklahoma City to Spud Wayne Taylor and Geneva (Roberson-Taylor) Steerman.  She grew up in Oklahoma City, then Texas, and lived in McAlester from 1970 to 1979, and worked as a correctional officer at the old Women's Prison.  Later she moved to Pensacola, Florida, and enjoyed Florida's emerald coast, before living in Rota, Spain, and finally to Maine, her favorite place on earth, where she worked as a security guard at Jackson Labs until retiring and returning to McAlester in 2000, to be with her m other, children, and grandchildren. Kathy loved animals, not only her own but all of her kid's animals, and would volunteer to stay with them when Brian and Kim were away. That being said, the ones she loved the most were her grandchildren.  She was a very proud Nanny and would tell you about all of them and their accomplishments and what they were up to for as long as somebody would listen.

Kathy is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Brian and Lauren Wilson of McAlester; a daughter and son-in-law, Kim and James Joslin of Eufaula; 8 grandchildren, Brandon Wilson, Gary Wilson, Morgan Lyons and Chris, Karsen Wilson, Kaitlyn Wilson, Brenna Torrey and Sonny Dalesandro, Colton Taylor, and Janice Joslin and Nathan Terrell; 3 great grandchildren; and a sister, Georgia Stroud of Texas, and several nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Linda Gloeckner.
