Mary Alice Benedict, 95, longtime resident of Adamson, passed away on Sunday, October 2, 2022 in McAlester.

Mary Alice was born on August 4, 1927 north of Dow Lake to W.H. "Pete" and Nellie (Campbell) McBee.  She married Joe Benedict on December 23, 1944 at her parents home in Adamson, Oklahoma.  She enjoyed cooking and visits from her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  She was the oldest surviving member of Adamson Baptist Church.

She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Alice Ann and Clyde Spears of Gowen, OK and Janell Kay and Wayne Sirmans of Adamson, OK; son and daughter-in-law, Joe William and Lynne Ann Benedict of Adamson, OK; grandchildren, Jayna (Sirmans) Munson and husband Todd, Clyde Ray Spears, Brad and Danielle Spears, Brandon and Kelli Spears, Raina (Spears) Sparks and husband, Shawn; Anna Lynn Benedict and Joe Dailey Benedict; great-grandchildren, Adisyn, Landri and Skyler Sirmans, Nate and Ella Munson, Shaina, Jalen and Caitlin Spears, Braylon, Railey and Kade Spears, Stetson, Savannah and Sawyer Spears, Jase, Javen and Jailey Sparks.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Benedict; parents, Pete and Nellie McBee; grandson, Joe Wayne Sirmans; brother, William I. "Billy" McBee; In-laws, Tony, Sr. and Anna Benedict.

Services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 8, 2022 at Adamson Baptist Church with Pastor Tom Young and her grandchildren officiating.  Burial will follow at Adamson Cemetery.  Active pallbearers will be her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  Honorary pallbearers will be Mickey Nolen, Randy Irwin, Billy Przywara, Johnny Sivic, Rodney Holt, Gene Peevey, Warren Hollis, Jr., Brent Hollis and Eddie Carroll McMurtrey.  Arrangements are under the direction of Brumley-Mills Funeral Home in Hartshorne.
