Marjorie J. King, 100, of McAlester, passed away Tuesday, October 8, 2024 at McAlester Regional Health Center.  Funeral services for Mrs. King are set for Saturday, October 12, at 10:00 a.m. at Brumley-Mills Funeral Home.  Burial will follow at Palestine Cemetery near Quinton.  Visitation will be Friday, October 11, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Brumley-Mills Funeral Home.

Marjorie King was born on August 9, 1924 at Blocker to George Lee and Ruby (Goodman) Lee-Davenport.  She grew up in the Blocker area and attended and graduated from Crowder Schools.  She married Don King in 1944 and they soon started a family and moved in to McAlester, where Marjorie was a stay-at-home mom until the boys got into their high school years.  She then worked at J. C. Penney's for many years, then worked at the new Gibson store for several years.  Marjorie and Don eventually moved back to the family ranch near Blocker.  Marjorie loved tending to the cattle, making a garden, and raising a beautiful flower garden.  She also helped at the Blocker Head Start program and was the election board inspector for the Blocker polls for many years.  She was a founding member of the Blocker Baptist Church and was very active there as a Sunday School teacher, and more.

Marjorie is survived by 2 sons and daughters-in-law, Larry and Jane King and Stephen and Cathleen King.  Also, grandchildren, Brandon Narr and Anna, Colby King and Phallyn, Tyle Nelson King, and Angelee Hope King-Stumpek and Josh; great grandchildren, Brianna Narr, Ryllie Symes and Trevor, Baiker King, and Leina King; and great grandchildren, Sutton and Easton Symes.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Don King; her parents; and her 2 brothers.
