Lynda Sue
Mason
Mar 11, 1939 — Dec 30, 2021
McAlester
Lynda Mason, better known by so many as Grandma Lynda, went to her forever home, the place she longed to be, at the throne of our almighty on December 30th, 2021 at her home. She never faltered in her faith or love of God, even throughout many losses in her life and her short battle with cancer. Born March 11th, 1939 in McAlester, OK, she was the youngest child by 9 years to the late Vernon and Lois Moore.
As the baby of the family, she was the recipient of lots of attention from her parents and many older siblings; so it should come as no surprise, she was never shy about being the center of attention, as anyone that knew her, can attest. She was a big red glasses-wearing, second-degree black belt in Tae Kwon Do, gospel singing, ultimate caretaker, and gun-toting grandma. You don't hear that description of many people, but her personality was larger than life, with a laugh even larger. She made friends everywhere she went; she was a hugger even to strangers, with a radiant, disarming smile that drew others in and lit up a room. She will be missed by so many that are still here, awaiting the day we will see her once again. She leaves behind a legacy as a humble, caring, giving, and strong woman that blessed the world with her love, kindness, and beautifully low singing voice. Her presence made an indelible impact in many lives, oftentimes without her even realizing it.
She is survived by her son Jade Oldham and wife Doreen McAlester, OK; son David Perkins and wife Sharon of Vicenza, Italy; daughter Toni Perkins of Bache, OK; grandchildren, Sara McDowell, Blake Halliburton, Kinzi Carey, Andrew Loar, Aaron Oldham, James Helmert, Alexandria Gilkey, Thomas Perkins, Tanya Randall; and 19 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Frank "Sam" Mason; and daughter, Melody Kinnamon.
Her Celebration of Life will be held at and live-streamed through, via Facebook, Saturday, January 8th, 2022 at 2 pm, the First Baptist Church of McAlester under the arrangement and to whom you may send flowers with, Brumley-Mills Funeral Home, 1410 E. Carl Albert Pkwy, McAlester, OK 74501. We would like to invite you to wear something with a touch red in remembrance of her in those beloved big red glasses.
