Lora Jean Olmstead, 80, of McAlester, passed away Thursday, Oct. 8, in McAlester. Arrangements for cremation have been completed; no services are planned at this time.
Lora Jean Olmstead was born o Aug. 26, 1946 in McAlester to Frank Vieux and Maple (Eastwood)-(Vieux) Eoff. She grew up here and graduated from McAlester High School in 1964. After her graduation, she moved to the Sherman-Denison area in Texas. She worked at the newspaper there as a proof-reader. Later she went to work at Texas Instruments proofing computer parts designs until her retirement. She married Bob Olmstead in 2004 and they moved to Divide, Colo. After many years there, they moved to Azle, Texas. Her husband, Bob, passed away in 2021 and in August of this year, Lora Jean moved to McAlester to be near her family. Lora Jean loved working in her yard and took great pride in keeping it immaculate. But her love was for her dogs, truly faithful companions.
Lora Jean is survived by her brother, Bill Vieux; her sister, Helen Peters; a sister-in-law, Betsy Watkins; and a brother-in-law, Steven Olmstead; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Robert F. Olmstead; and a sister, Margaret Doyle.
