Lois Solorzano, 82, of Hartshorne, passed away Saturday, April 23, in Hartshorne. Funeral services will be Monday, April 25, at 10:00 a.m. at Brumley-Mills Funeral Home Chapel in Hartshorne.
Lois Solorzano was born on November 4, 1939 in Colville, Arkansas to Kertley Richard Joyce and Essie (Moore) Joyce-Dorsey. At the age of 5 years, her family moved to Chicago. She attended school there and at an early age she married David Solorzano. They had 7 children in a marriage that lasted over 50 years. While in Chicago she worked as a meat manager of a deli in a large grocery store until her children were all grown. In 1996 they moved to Hartshorne, and in more recent years she worked part-time at Daylight Donuts. Lois loved people and did all kinds of crafts. She loved to cook and made her dishes from scratch. She loved to go sightseeing in her golf cart and visit friends. She loved her 2 cats she had rescued and gave a forever home.
Lois is survived by her children, Vicky Hernandez and husband Luis, Sr. and their son, Luis, Jr, and their granddaughter, Makayla; John Solorzano and wife Donna and their son, Michael; David Solorzano and wife Debbie and their grandson, Owen Campu; Maricela Solorzano; Elaine Solorzano, and Yvonne Hasan and husband Ron and their dog, Jackson; a son-in-law, Roberto Peralta and his son, Robert and daughter, Josie; 2 sisters, Shirley Mathews-Nelson and Helen Morris; step-mother, Alta Joyce; a nephew, Jimmy Joyce and his son Gregory; and a niece, Barbara Mathews and husband Michael Elliott and their children, Mathew, Brice and Madison; and special friends, Dimple Madden, Valerie Trueblood and her daughter Morgan, Craig and Lou Overton, Janet Long, and Joe and June Suter. In addition to her husband, David, Lois was preceded in death by her parents; her grandparents, Oliver and Ada Moore and Luther Joyce and Laura Allison Jones; a daughter, Thresa Peralta; a sister, Jackie Vallient; a brother and sister-in-law, R. D. and Wanda Joyce; 2 brothers-in-law, Grover C. Mathews, Jr. and Bennett Nelson; and a nephew, Dwayne Mathews, and a great nephew, Joseph Mathews.
