Obituary

Lois Jean "Jeanie" Barnes-Wright, 80, of Hartshorne, passed away Tuesday, July 14, at her home in Hartshorne.  Viewing will be Friday, July 17, from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Brumley-Mills Funeral Home in Hartshorne.  Funeral services will be Saturday, July 18, at 11:00 a.m. at the First Baptist Church in Hartshorne, with Pastor Daniel Miller officiating.  Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery.   Pallbearers will be Chase Wright, Jarrod Adams, Blane Adams, Eric O'Kelley, John O'Kelley and Michael O'Kelley.

Jeanie Barnes-Wright was born on Jan. 18, 1946 in McAlester to Arvil and Ima (Sirmans) Barnes.  She grew up in Hartshorne and graduated from Hartshorne High School in 1964.  She married Lewis Edgar "Ed" Wright on Nov. 6, 1964 in Poteau.  They made their home in Tulsa, where they owned and operated Ed Wright Automotive and Fast Chip for 40 years.  Ed passed away in August, 2022, and, at that time, Jeanie moved back home to Hartshorne to be near her family.  She and Ed also owned and competed with their own race cars, both Sprint cars and drag racers.  Jeanie was also a collector; Barbie dolls, Beanie Babies, and Hallmark tree ornaments.  Jeanie was proud of her local heritage, and was a regular contributor to the annual Pittsburg County Livestock Show.  She was also active in the lives of all of her nieces and nephews, and great nieces and nephews, attending all of their activities, from ball games to rodeos to pageants and gymnastic meets.

Jeanie is survived by her sisters, Roena O'Kelley and Louise Brown; a sister-in-law, Cathy Wright; nephews and nieces, Charlie Wright and wife Kristy, Kenny Adams, Michael O'Kelley and wife Lana, Brenda Martin and husband Johnie Dale, Rejeani Wilson and husband Gary, Linda M. Hall and husband Mark, and Janelle O'Kelley; and special friends and caregivers, Donna, JoAnn, Romona, Dana, Sandy, Sandra, Crystal, Teresa and Misti.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Ed Wright; her parents, Arvil and Ima Barnes; mother-in-law, Grace Alexander; brothers-in-law, Jimmy O'Kelley, Gene Boyd, Ferrel Brown, Les White, Charles Wright; a sister-in-law, Regena Wright; and nephews, Buddy O'Kelley, John Adams and a niece, Sandy Adams.
