Lila Dianna Simmons was born on July 16, 1947 in Fairview, Montana to Frederick and Anna (Damm) Bender.  She grew up in Montana and worked for a public accounting firm there, until being transferred to Florida.  After a year in Florida, she decided to go home.  She stopped in Wilburton for a short time and met her soon-to-be husband, Harold "Wesley" Simmons.  They were married in 1974 and made their home in Adamson.  Lila went to college at East Central in Ada, earning her Master's Degree in Education.  She went to work as a math and science teacher at Hartshorne Elementary School until her retirement after 28 years of service.  Lila was a big dog lover, and in her spare-time she bred, raised, and sold, mainly Boston Terriers, and some Aussies.

Lila is survived by 2 sons and daughters-in-law, Travis and Ashley Simmons, and Tracy and Deloris Simmons; 1 grandchild, 2 great grandchildren; and sisters, Linda Norden-Upton, Tammy Kuepfer, Cheryl Labor, and Ethel Bender.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Wesley; a son, Steven Simmons; and her parents.
