Lewis "Gene" Martin, 72, of McAlester, passed away on Monday, March 4, 2024 with his family by his side.

Family will receive friends on Friday from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Brumley-Mills Funeral Home in McAlester.  Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 9, 2024 at Brumley-Mills Chapel in McAlester with Rev. Jamie Kirkpatrick officiating.  Burial will follow at Tannehill Cemetery.  Active pallbearers will be Toby Rains, Dale Cantrell, David Martin, Derk McCarty, Eddie Morgan and Kenny Hall.

Gene was born on September 17, 1951 in McAlester, Oklahoma to Lewis and Lena (Sexton) Martin.  He served in the United States Army during Vietnam. He was a Sergeant at the Oklahoma State Penitentiary and retired after 30 years of service.  He enjoyed fishing, hunting, travelling, horses and eating out.  He was of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include his children, Amanda Tinker and Andrew Tinker; brothers, Billy Martin and Mike Martin; sisters, Mary White and Louise Ashworth; numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Lena Thaxton; father, Lewis Martin; brother-in-law, Leon White and a great nephew, Colton White.
