Obituary

Laura L. Wilson, 81, of McAlester, passed away on Thursday, October 14 th at her home.

Laura was born on November 8, 1939 in Brookeland, Texas to Charles and Evie Alberteen (Powell) Cunningham.  She married Walter H. Wilson on September 11, 1954 in Rockwall, Texas.  She enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, game shows and writing poems.  She was a member of the First Free Will Baptist Church in McAlester.

Survivors include her husband, Walter H. Wilson of the home; children and spouses, Laura Ann and Jim Sheppard of Crowder, OK, Deborah and James McClaughrey of Dow, OK, Donna and Timmy Bowen of McAlester, OK, Evie Allen of Frink, Elizabeth and Lonnie Buff of Kiowa, OK, Angel and Justin Ragan of Indianola, OK; thirteen grandchildren and spouses, Lanene and Jason Trammell, Matthew and Erica Allsup, Carol and Billy Pemberton, Beth and Jerry Robertson, Ryan McClaughrey, Eli and Jennifer Bowen, Bonita and Richard Rose, Felicia and James Belvin, Andrew and Citrina Buff, Betty Buff, Crissy and Garrett Nance, Lauri and Stanton Chase and J.W. Ragan; numerous great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild; one brother, L.G. Miller of Hemphill, TX; brother-in-law, Gerald Wilson of Adamson, OK; two sisters-in-law, Joyce Thompson of McAlester, OK and Carolyn Wilson of Van Buren, AR; lifelong friend, Gracie Farris and special friends, Kathryn Bowen and Sue Buff.

She was preceded in death by her father, Charles Cunningham; mother, Evie Ferguson; son-in-law, Melvin Allen; great-great-grandchild, Charlie Hazel Dawn Short; two sisters, Norma Manning, Jane Ebarb and one brother, Dean Miller.

Active pallbearers will be Johnny Brewer, Gerald Wilson, Jr., Michael Jamison, R.J. Phillips, Doug Baker, Charlie Strode and Roy Westbrook.  Honorary pallbearers will be Curtis Lee Westbrook, Tim Ebarb, Tim Sepulvado, John Sepulvado, William Miller, Frank Allsup, Jimmy Phillips and John Thompson.

Family will receive friends on Monday from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Brumley-Mills Funeral Home in McAlester.  Services will be at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 19, 2021 at the First Free Will Baptist Church in McAlester with Rev. Steve Mayhew officiating.  Burial will follow at Arpelar Cemetery.
