Larry Lynn Boggess, 56, of McAlester, passed away Saturday, Dec. 31, 2022 in Oklahoma City. The family will welcome friends for visitation at Brumley-Mills Funeral Home on Thursday, Jan. 5, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be Friday, Jan. 6, at 10:00 a.m. at the McAlester Expo Center, with Jamie Kirkpatrick and Cecil Day officiating. Burial will follow at Tannehill Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Chad Cook, Gary Perkinson, Tom Snyder, Joe Kimmons, Austin Warfield, and Jason Davis.
Larry Boggess was born on April 12, 1966 in McAlester to James Monroe Boggess and Retha Ellen (Snow) Boggess.
Larry was a 35+ year veteran of Law Enforcement in the State of Oklahoma. He began his career with Pittsburg County Sheriff's Department, then went on to serve with the Capitol Patrol, Warr Acres Police Department and the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation. He received 2 purple hearts, a Medal of Valor, 7 Lifesaving awards, and multiple Merit medals during his career. In 2015 Larry reconnected with his high school sweetheart Laurie and they married in 2016. Together they have 5 kids and 9 grandchildren that he loved deeply. He truly loved spending time with each and every one of his family. He enjoyed the outdoors, hunting and fishing, and working on his property. Larry touched many lives and will be greatly missed by many.
He is survived by his wife Laurie Boggess, daughters and son-in-law Kaibree Boggess and Ashlie and Rodney Ridenour. Sons and daughter-in-law Cody Boggess, William White, and Anthony and Brett White. Grandchildren Caston and Emma Ridenour, Clayton, Teegan, and Jenson White, Camden Wood, Ella and Willow White, and Aspen Boggess. His mother Retha Boggess. 3 sisters and brothers-in-law Bobbye Jones, Sandra and Tony Bond, Ann and Don Williams, and Jamie Kirkpatrick. 3 brothers and sisters-in-law, Jimmy and Vera Boggess, Gary and Carrie Boggess, James Boggess and Jen Harrison; parents-in-law, Shirley and Tommy Brannon; numerous cousins, nieces and nephews that all held a special place in his heart.
He was preceded in death by his father James Monroe Boggess and brother George Smith.
