Joyce Marlene Evans, 87, passed away on Friday, October 27, 2023 at New Hope Living Center in McAlester.
She was born on November 10, 1935 in Indianola, Oklahoma to Will and Zetta (Smith) Duvall. She married George Douglas Evans on May 11, 1968 in Clovis, New Mexico. Marlene's husband was in the United States Air Force, so they moved around often. She was employed at several jobs throughout her life. A friend taught her floral design, which was her favorite job. She loved flowers, placing flower arrangements throughout her home.
She is survived by three sons, Kenneth Edward Ellis, Rocky Will Phillips and Ernest King Phillips; four siblings, Charlene Adams, Eva Jean Weatherford, Linda Ruth Cassidy and Loreita Lou Briggs; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two daughters, Vicki Joyce Evans, Sandra Lee Ellis and a brother, Little Bill Duvall; infant sister, baby Duvall; and great-grandson, Branson Lee Kemp.
Family will receive friends on Friday, November 3rd from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Brumley-Mills Funeral Home in McAlester. Services will be 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 4, 2023 at Brumley-Mills Chapel with Rev. Dale Smith officiating. Burial will follow at Indianola Cemetery.
