Joseph Kent Powell, 84, of Krebs, passed away Friday, November 29, 2024 at his home in Krebs.  A memorial service will be held on Friday, December 13, at 11:00 a.m. at Brumley-Mills Funeral Home in McAlester, with Deacon Bill Anderson officiating.

Joe Powell was born on August 18, 1940 in McAlester to Angelo and Kelley (Ryan) Powell.  He grew up in Krebs and has lived there all his life.  Joe worked at Henson-Kickernick in McAlester for 20 years, when he retired.  He then was part of a company called Shilog, selling medical equipment to different government agencies.  In his spare-time, Joe enjoyed hunting and fishing, and was a long-time member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Krebs. Anybody that knew Joe Kent knew that he loved to go to Broken Bow and that was his happy place. He always had an ornery attitude and was cracking jokes. He had some great one-liners. He was also an OU fan and every game he watched he had his OU cow bell and the whole neighborhood knew when they scored a touchdown.

Joe is survived by his daughter, Kristie Powell; grandchildren, Kellie Powell and Michael Powell; and great grandchildren, Aliyah Patterson, Kollin Powell, Wyatt Powell, and Oliver Powell.  He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Marilyn Zavonia; and a brother, Burton Powell.
