Nov 4, 1996 — Mar 20, 2023
McAlester
Joseph Lee Barlow, 26, of McAlester, passed away on Monday, March 20, 2023 in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
With deepest sorrow, we announce the loss of our most precious son, brother, and father Joseph Barlow. Joseph was 26 years old, born on November 4, 1996. He enlisted in the Army November 5, 2013 and concluded his career on November 4, 2021. He graduated high school from McAlester High School in 2015. He remained in the Army Reserves for 8 years. He played the Bugle at numerous military funerals. He spent 3 years at the Jackie Brannon Correctional Facility as a guard. He was also on the CERT Team there and participated in the Honor Guard for a short time. He then went on to become a McAlester Police Officer on August 2, 2021.
All those who knew Joseph, even just a little, lost a shining light in their lives. The unconditional love he showed those around him will never be forgotten. Joseph had a servant's heart, always wanting to do the right thing for others.
Joseph was an amazing father to Hudson. He was always so proud to show him off to others and include him in everything. You rarely saw Joseph without Hudson by his side. His memory will live on for Hudson.
He was dedicated to his family as a son, brother, and father. His smiling face brought such joy to all of us who knew him. We will never forget the love and memories he shared with us. He will be greatly missed by our family and community.
Survivors include his spouse, Chaise Iskey; son, Hudson Barlow; parents, Cindy and Shannon Barkley, Jerry Barlow, Jr. and Brenda Schoggins; sisters and spouses, Rachel and Daniel Morrison, Jessica and Bill Martin; brothers, Austin Hood and Tyler Hood; nephews and niece, Mason Stephens, Brycelynn Morrison, Levi Morrison, Connor Barlow and Augustus Martin; maternal grandparents, Clay and Kathy Norman; paternal grandparents, Jerry, Sr. and Ellen Barlow, John Alan Barkley, and Willene Barkley; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Patsy and Anthony Sparks, Alice Fielder and Sheila Barkley; a very special aunt, "Nana," Debra Curtsinger.
