Johnny Garvin was born on October 13, 1957 in McAlester to Delois and Oneta (Ginn) Garvin. He grew up in the McAlester and Alderson area, and has lived here most of his life. He and Brinda McGuire were married on November 13, 1976 and made their home in Alderson all these years, except for a couple of years working in the cotton gins in California. Johnny worked at several service stations around McAlester for several years. He eventually went to work for the city of Krebs as street superintendent for over 12 years. Johnny enjoyed raising pigs and cows, and always had a big garden every year. He was also well known for his baking skills; cakes, pies, bread, whatever anyone needed or wanted, he could bake it. But his greatest enjoyment came from spending time with his grandkids and great grandson. He was a member of the Peaceable Valley Church.
Johnny is survived by his wife, Brinda Garvin; his daughter, Amber Jewell and husband Jeremy, and son, James Garvin; grandchildren, Devyn Swindell and wife Emma, Tristyn Jewell, and Grace Beaubien; a great grandson, Wyatt Swindell, affectionately known as Boo Boo; a brother and sister-in-law, Buddy and Rita Garvin; several nephews and nieces, including Brandon and Jennifer Garvin, Shala and Mark Harper, and Stacy Garvin; a cousin, Jimmy Ginn and wife Rhonda; and his three favorite nephews, Waylon, Joey, and Billy and his favorite niece Jennifer.
