John Randall Raybon a.k.a. Randy, claimed his heavenly prized on November 7, 2021. Randy, was born on July 15, 1950 in Enid Oklahoma to H.L. (Pete) and Nevelyn Raybon.

At only 17 years of age, and with permission from his parents, John enlisted and served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Vietnam conflict. He left active duty as an E-4 Cpl in 1970 with a National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal w/1 star and Vietnam Campaign Mead Medal w/device and a Good Conduct Medal.   He then continued to serve his country in the U.S. Marine Corp Reserves until 1973.

To say John lived an impressive life would be an understatement!  He was a master carpenter, an amazing artist, gifted musician, avid golfer, Alaskan fisherman, McAlester EMS/Fireman, Chief Fireman and first responder in Port Heiden AK, and until retirement he worked as a boiler room maintenance mechanic at the MCAAP.

John could build anything as evidenced best by his homestead, The Palace in the Pines, where he served as owner operator and chief bottle washer.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Nevelyn Sweeney Raybon and H.L. (Pete) Raybon.

Survivors include: Step-mother Velma Raybon of OKC; brother Bruce (Mary) Raybon of McAlester OK; daughter Sunnie (Tim) Flood of Keller TX; son Luke Raybon of Neosho, MO; daughter Monica Raybon of McAlester OK and nine grandchildren, Vivian, Daniel and Katherine Flood, Bowen McIntosh, Ryder, Brexlee and Aria Raybon and Paige and Pepper Raybon.

John will be greatly missed by his family and friends, caregiver Ernest Russell and his sweet pup, Diamond Girl.

A memorial service will be held at 1pm Saturday, November 13th at Brumley-Mills Funeral Home, 1410 E. Carl Albert Pkwy, McAlester.
