Obituary

Joe David Ivey, 69, of Arch, Okla., passed away peacefully, surrounded by family and friends, at his home on Wednesday, July 12, 2023.

Joe was born on Sept. 10, 1953 in McAlester, Okla., to "R.C." and Thelma Ivey.  He grew up in Dow, Okla. and was a member of the Haileyville High School class of 1972, and received his State FFA degree.  He was an honorary lifetime member of both Haileyville and Hartshorne FFA Chapters.  He entered into the U.S. National Guard and served for 20 years, all the while working throughout his life at Coca-Cola; and Aerotronics, before reaching his final place of employment, Spirit AeroSystems.  His working life ended with his retirement after 42 years with Spirit.

Joe married the love of his life, Patricia Scott-Ivey, on May 3, 1975.  They lived their days raising kids and livestock in Arch.  He was a passionate and loving husband and father.  They had six children, of whom he was extremely proud, adored, never gave up on, and always pushed to do their best.  He also has 8 grandchildren that he was equally proud of.

Joe was a real presence to all who knew him.  One of his greatest joys was working and being alongside the show family at the livestock shows.  He was an avid outdoorsman, and attended Haileyville Church of Christ.
