Obituary

Jim Bowling, Sr., 89, went to be with his Lord on Wednesday, September 28, 2022 at his home.

He was born on April 30, 1933 at Salem, Arkansas, in the home of his parents John and Mary Ethel (Chadwick) Bowling.  He was the tenth of their thirteen children.  Jim worked for National Cash Register for over forty years.  He was a deacon at First Baptist Church and went on mission trips to Mexico, Africa, Bangladesh and Nicaragua.  He helped start the Good Samaritan Men's Shelter and worked the jail ministry for 30 years.  Jim worked on disaster response teams in Louisiana, Texas, North Carolina and New Jersey.  He was a member of the Christian Motorcyclist Association and Gideons International.

He is survived by his wife of forty-six years, Judy; his sons, Jim, Jr. and wife, Marilyn, Bill and wife, Joyce, Chris and wife, Betty, and Brian; grandchildren, April Duncan and husband, Mike, Jim III and wife, Carla, Candace Brintle and husband Patrick, Logan Bowling and his fiancé Payton, and her son Brantley, Dr. Anna Bowling, and her brother Matthew; great-grandchildren Jim IV, Grace and Austin Duncan and John Brintle; brothers, Shelby and Bob Bowling and sister, Nadine Rough; many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by brothers, C.P., John, Coy, Clarence and Bud; sisters, Frances Holt, Nova Gaines, Ola Veazey and Betty Johnson.

Family will receive friends on Friday from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Brumley-Mills Funeral Home.  Services will be 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 1, 2022 at Brumley-Mills Chapel in McAlester with Nathan Durant officiating.  Burial will be at Memory Gardens Memorial Park Cemetery.
