Jim W. Spears, 79, of Bartlesville, passed away at his home on Monday, Nov. 14, 2022. Viewing is scheduled for Friday til 8:00 p.m. Funeral services are scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 18, at 10:00 a.m. at Brumley-Mills Funeral Home in Hartshorne.
Jim W. Spears was born on Sept. 17, 1943 in Hartshorne to Jay Benjamin Spears and Bessie Margarite (Gale) Spears. He grew up in Hartshorne and graduated from high school there. He then attended college, earning a Master's Degree in Social Work. While in college he operated his own upholstery shop, Jim's Upholstery Service, to help pay for college. He lived in Oklahoma City from 1967 to 1981 when he moved to Tulsa. In 1996 he moved to Sperry, then to Bartlesville in 1999. He operated his own counseling service in Tulsa, Spears Counseling, for many years. He was also an author and had a couple of books published. Jim loved to read, watch movies and go dancing. He also had 3 pet mules, Charlie Brown, Mikey, and Nellie.
Jim is survived by a daughter, Beth Spears and her partner, Maureen Curit; a son, Jimmie Wade Spears and wife Debbie; grandchildren, Brogan Spears, Kyle Stefan Spears, Ryan William Spears, Alexander Blake Spears and wife Theresa, Tyler Bee Spears and wife Maycee, EmilyAnne Fiza Spears, and Robert Allen Spears; great grandchildren, Jessie Wade Spears, Hunter Wyatt Spears, Madelyne Clare Spears, Lindsey Blake Spears, and Belamy Forrest Spears; and 2 sisters, Shirley Echols and Betty Bourassa. He was preceded in death by his parents; 2 sister, Gale Spears and Frankie Kolezar; and 2 brothers, J. B. Franklin, Bill Franklin.
