Jerry D. Weeks, 80, of Eufaula, passed away Tuesday, June 25, at St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa. A graveside committal service, with the U. S. Army providing military honors, will be held on Friday, June 28, at 2:00 p.m. at Oak Hill Cemetery in McAlester. Following that, a Celebration of Life service will begin at 2:30 at Brumley-Mills Funeral Home in McAlester. Attendance is welcome at either and/or both services. Pallbearers are Dale Robertson, David Weeks, Steve Weeks, Frank Weeks, Charles Weeks, and Shawn Dismuke. Honorary pallbearers are Stewart Ryan, Wayne Satterlee, Earl Odom, Tom Greer, Fred Bess, Clint Bess, and Tony Hardin.
Jerry Weeks was born on Feb. 21, 1944 in Canadian, Okla. to Charles and Thelma (Carmon) Weeks. He grew up in Canadian and graduated from McAlester High School, then joined the Army and spent over 3 years serving during the Viet Nam War, receiving his honorable discharge in 1968. During that time, he married Judith Hardin in 1965, and when he completed his military service, he returned to the McAlester area and attended Vo-Tech school and Eastern State College. They soon moved to Oklahoma City where Jerry worked as a machinist. After he and Judith both retired, they moved to their home near Eufaula. Jerry enjoyed hunting and fishing, but he is best known in this area as the lead guitarist in several local bands.
Jerry is survived by his wife, Judith Weeks; daughters, Nancy Bess and husband Fred, and DeeDee Weeks; grandchildren, Kyle Bess and wife Ashley, and Clint Bess and wife Chelsea; 6 great grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild; 2 brothers, Ed Weeks and wife Joyce, and Charles Weeks; a sister, Glenda Dismuke; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, and a son, Danny Weeks.
