Jequita Munoz, 61, of McAlester, passed away on Thursday, September 14, 2023 at McAlester Regional Health Center.

Jequita was born on September 7, 1962 in Altus, Oklahoma to Thomas and Margaret (Boyd) Ashley.  She enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren.  Taking trips with her grandchildren and she also enjoyed spending time playing at the casino with Walter.

Survivors include her spouse, Walter Coon of McAlester; children and spouses, Tomas Munoz and spouse Miranda of McAlester, Heather Munoz of McAlester, Marissa Munoz Perkins and spouse Shawn Perkins of McAlester and Felicia Munoz of McAlester; her father, Thomas Ashley of McAlester; brother, David Ashley of McAlester; grandchildren, Saphire Munoz, Shawn Perkins II, Peyton Steidley, Brooklyn Mengers, Dakota Steidley, Oliver Mengers, Raylee Munoz, Ezekiel Munoz, River Perkins and Mateo Munoz; numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Margaret Ashley; brothers, Jacky Ashley and Kevin Ashley; grandparents, Evvie Minnick, Paul Jean Minnick, Ida Mae Dunigan and Thomas Ashley.

Active pallbearers will be Shawn Perkins II, Jerry Ashley, Gary Ashley, Samuel Coon, Triny Ramirez and Fernando Tarin.  Honorary pallbearers are Steven Minnick, Junior Ashley and John Ezell.

Services will be 1:00 p.m. on Monday, September 18, 2023 at Brumley-Mills Funeral Home Chapel in McAlester with Rev. Jamie Kirkpatrick officiating.  Burial will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery in Checotah, Oklahoma.
