Janis P. Turner, 83, of McAlester, passed away peacefully at her home on Sunday, April 18. A memorial service will be held on Friday, April 30, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. at Brumley-Mills Funeral Home Chapel.
Janis Turner was born on October 24, 1937 in Scipio to Samuel Alexander Price and Beula Mae (Talley) Price. She grew up in McAlester and after graduating from McAlester High School she attended Conners State College. She has lived in McAlester all her adult life. She worked for the Oklahoma Highway Patrol as a communications officer for 25 years, until retiring. Janis was an avid reader and accomplished painter, and had her own booth at the McAlester Antiques Mall. She also loved taking care of her cats.
Janis is survived by her children, Douglas Glen Turner and Lacy Anne Borengasser; grandchildren, Amie Boatwright and husband Isaac and daughter, Madison Martin; Emily Sartin and her husband Skyler; Eric Borengasser, and Jeffrey Ray Hill; and the father of her children, Jerry Ray Turner; a sister and brother-in-law, Virginia and J. A. Allford; a sister, Shirley Ross; a sister-in-law, Donna Price; special friend, Amy Ellison and family. She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, John Ray Turner; 1 sister, Lillian Woods; and brothers, Warren Price, Carl Price and Samuel Price, Jr.
